The staff at the University Clinic for Anesthesiology and Intensive Care not only care for patients in the operating rooms on the Leipziger Straße campus and at the University Women’s Hospital. Staff from our clinic also work in our two intensive care units, which have a total of 24 ventilator beds, and in the intermediate care unit, which currently has six monitoring beds. In addition, anesthesiologists work in our pain clinic for patients with acute and chronic pain and serve as emergency physicians in the City of Magdeburg’s emergency medical service, both on the ground and aboard the “Christoph 36” helicopter. Recently, an interdisciplinary palliative care team was also established at our hospital to help improve the quality of life for patients who can no longer receive curative treatment.
