The University Department of Cardiology and Angiology receives the distinction of interventional "Mitral Valve Center" (ZMK). This certificate is awarded by the German Society of Cardiology - Cardiovascular Research (DGK). The certification is valid until July 2025.

More people suffer from heart disease in the state of Saxony-Anhalt than in any other German state. The number of people affected is continuing to rise due to demographic change. Therefore, the challenges for the medical care structure will increase even more in the coming years.

Scientists at the University of Magdeburg have developed a computer model that will help to treat leukemia more individually and more gently in the future. In a next step, Prof. Dr. Inna Lavrik, Prof. Dr. Denis Schewe and Prof. Dr. Dimitrios Mougiakakos from UMMD will participate in the project.
